New weight restriction on Main Street bridge
The weight restriction on Pointe-Aux-Pins Creek bridge on Main Street in Ardrossan has been decreased to 10 tonnes (10,000 kg). See map.

The new weight restriction protects the stability of the bridge and the safety of all motorists. Â
Complete bridge replacement starts summer 2025.
The Ardrossan Hamlet Roads Upgrade project will enhance road safety, efficiency and usability for residents.
The planning, design and construction of this multi-phased project is scheduled to take place from fall 2015 into the coming years, pending Council approval of annual budgets.

Main Street
The scope of this project component is to upgrade Main Street from Range Road 221A to Arbour Close into a two-lane, standard rural collector road. The project will include the construction of approximately 250 meters of sidewalk on the west side of the road. In addition, some minor traffic calming will be introduced at the intersection of Third and First Avenue.
Project timeline
This project is in the design phase and is not currently included in the 2022 - 2026 budget plan.
Range Road 221A
The scope of this project component is to upgrade Range Road 221A from Queen Street to King Street into a two lane, rural, standard collector road. The project will include constructing approximately 325 meters of roadway upgrades.

- Pointe-Aux-Pins Creek Bridge – Construction happening in 2025. Main Street bridge over Pointe-aux-Pins Creek and sidewalk connection from northeast residential area to Third Avenue and Ardrossan Recreation Centre.
- Queen Avenue and Third Street - Completed in 2017. Third Avenue was upgraded into a two lane, rural, standard collector road with a sidewalk on the south side of the road. Queen Street was upgraded into a two lane rural and urban standard collector road, with sections of sidewalk on both sides of the road.
