As the Commercial Food Rescue and Organic Waste pilot is moving towards its close at the end of November, Strathcona County is recognizing the participants with a campaign called ‘Catch the Cow’.

Strathcona County is supporting a safe, accessible and healthy Halloween for all trick-or-treaters this year through free recreation passes for local youth and events for everyone.

A new online payment option is now available for County-issued bylaw tickets. Launching October 21, the website provides a secure, quick and easy way to pay municipal bylaw fines including dog, noise, parking, Community Standards Bylaw infractions, and more.

On Friday, October 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Strathcona County Enforcement Services and RCMP will be collecting donations for the Strathcona Food Bank at the Save-on-Foods, Sobeys and Superstore Baseline Road locations. Staff will be onsite with a police cruiser and are encouraging shoppers to cram the cruiser with food donations.

Strathcona County is entering a new phase of the Open Space Master Plan (OSMP) and is seeking community input to continue to shape the plan!

Strathcona County received a 2024 Excellence in Economic Development Silver Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The award was bestowed specifically for the organization’s work in the Special Purpose Website category that impacted over 100,000 residents.

The count is in! Strathcona County’s population is on the rise, according to the 2024 municipal census results. The County’s population has grown by 3.5 per cent since 2022, bringing the total number of residents to 103,829 people. The County saw population increases of 3.5 per cent in urban areas (75,575 residents) and 3.3 per cent in rural areas (28,253 residents).

A follow-up budget survey is now open for residents and businesses to have their say about Strathcona County’s budget, spending and priorities. This second round of engagement follows the spring survey that asked our community for their thoughts about spending priorities, tax increases and County services.
