Strathcona County celebrates Seniors’ Week

From June 1 – 7, 2026, Strathcona County will celebrate Seniors’ Week and the important work and contributions older adults make in our community.

"Seniors' Week is a time to recognize the people behind our engaged, active and inviting community," says Mayor Rod Frank. "We are grateful for their knowledge, perspective and dedication to shaping a strong future for Strathcona County."

To celebrate, Strathcona County and WESeniors Strathcona are hosting a free Seniors’ Week Celebration on Monday, June 1, doors open at 9:30 a.m. and event activities run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The celebration is being held in the Community Centre Agora at 401 Festival Lane, Sherwood Park. This event is open to all older adults in the community. Rural transportation will be available from Ardrossan, Josephburg, and South Cooking Lake. Transportation details including departure locations will be available upon registration. Registration closes on May 29.

This event will kick off Seniors’ Week and celebrate the older adults in Strathcona County that make our community so special. Attendees will be able to enjoy a variety of activities, including guest speaker Haidong Liang, Executive Director of WESeniors, music by WESeniors Strathcona’s Live Music Circle, outdoor games, a free BBQ, door prizes, information booths and more.
