Find your voting station

On election day (October 20, 2025), eligible voters must vote at their assigned voting station.

Eligibility

To be eligible to vote, you must be:

  • At least 18 years old,
  • A Canadian citizen, and
  • Reside in Alberta and your place of residence is in Strathcona County on election day. Voters must present identification in order to vote. See the Identification required to vote section below.

Register to vote or check your registration

You must be registered in order to vote.

NEW - Voter registration for the municipal election is done through Elections Alberta's Voterlink site. The deadline to register through Voterlink was August 15, 2025.

Missed the deadline? No problem! You can register at your advance or election day voting station.

All voters who register through Voterlink or at their voting station will be added to the permanent electors register.


​Identification required to vote

All voters must bring identification with them in order to vote.

Voters who are on the permanent electors register must produce one piece of identification issued by the federal, provincial or local government that contains your photo. Examples include:

  • Alberta driver's licence
  • Alberta identification card
  • Canadian passport

Voters who are not on the permanent electors register can register at the voting station and produce one piece of government issued identification that contains your photograph, name and address. Examples include:

  • Alberta driver's licence or identification card
  • If you do not have government issued identification with your photograph, you may present identification with your name and address only. A list of alternate identification is available at Elections Alberta.

Vote in advance

Advance voting will be offered from October 6-18. Eligible voters can vote at any advance voting station in Strathcona County.

Vote on election day

On election day (October 20), eligible voters must vote at their assigned voting station. Voters on the permanent electors register will receive a Where to Vote card in the mail in October to inform them of their assigned voting station. A voting station lookup tool will also be available in the coming weeks. Check this page for updates.

All election day voting stations will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Vote by special ballot

Unable to make it to a voting station in October? You can request a special ballot from the Election Office, which you can pick up. Requests for special ballots opened July 2.

Please note: due to the Canada Post strike, we encourage you to pick up your special ballot. To avoid mailing delays, we encourage you to courier or drop off your special ballot directly at the Election Office, which is located in the basement of County Hall. 

Requests must be received by the Election Office before 4 p.m. on election day (October 20). Special ballots must be returned to the Election Office before 7 p.m. on election day to be counted.
