The Accounts Payable Team Lead is a key member of the Financial and Strategic Services team responsible for overseeing the operations and administration of the Accounts Payable (AP) unit. This position ensures accurate and timely processing of invoices across all departments, while supporting staff, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and upholding financial accuracy and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily AP operations, troubleshoot issues, and escalate complex matters when required
Mentor, train, and support team members, fostering development and professional growth
Coordinate team schedules, including vacation and earned days off, and provide backup support
Allocate and review tasks and workflows to ensure timely and accurate processing
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Assist in preparing working papers for year-end and responding to auditor inquiries
Prepare and organize weekly payment runs and resolve issues promptly
Maintain strong internal controls to prevent fraud and duplicate payments
Ensure invoices are recorded in the correct fiscal periods
Collaborate with business partners to process or accrue invoices
Provide data, analysis, and guidance to business partners
Support system testing, upgrades, and enhancements, particularly within Oracle Financials
Provide AP and treasury-related advice to internal stakeholders
Build and maintain effective working relationships with departments
Participate in cross-departmental projects and support additional duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five years’ experience in accounts payable or general accounting
Experience with Oracle Financials (AP modules preferred)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Demonstrated leadership and coaching ability
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Effective communication skills for working with internal teams and external vendors
High level of accuracy and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong collaborative mindset and willingness to support team members
