Strathcona County: Fire restriction in effect

A fire restriction is in effect. Open burning is not allowed. All fire and fireworks permits are suspended until further notice as conditions have made it dangerous for open burning. Strathcona County encourages all residents to experience agriculture through livestock, in a safe and responsible way. In some areas of the County this is through special events where livestock are in an area for a temporary period. These events must be managed safely to protect the public and the livestock from injury and illness.

The purpose of a Livestock Event Permit is to allow livestock at short-term events in locations where livestock is otherwise not permitted under this bylaw. Event examples include, but are not limited to:

Public and private special events where livestock are included, such as petting zoos and parades.
Facilities, such as hospitals, care facilities and schools, where livestock provide emotional or mental support to persons.
Facilities, such as schools, where livestock are used for educational purposes.
