In 2024, Strathcona County Council approved a budget of $2 million towards the planning and design of a potential modernized senior centre at the current site of the Sherwood Park 55+ Club and Log Cabin. This decision was informed by the valuable feedback shared by the community and through the extensive public engagement efforts related to the Healthy Aging Strathcona County Framework.

Phase 1: Planning and design

Currently in the initial phase of planning and design, Strathcona County is conducting preliminary targeted public engagement sessions with local seniors’ groups in July 2025. The feedback received during these sessions, combined with feedback from previous engagement opportunities, will inform conceptual design options to be shared for community-wide feedback at a later date.
