The purpose of the Strathcona County / Sturgeon County Intermunicipal Affairs Committee is to enhance the working relationship between Sturgeon County and Strathcona County with respect to issues of common concern and interest. The Strathcona County / Sturgeon County Intermunicipal Affairs Committee is established by Strathcona County Bylaw 41-2020 (42.9Â KB)
The composition of the Strathcona County / Sturgeon County Intermunicipal Affairs Committee consists of the Strathcona County Mayor, Sturgeon County Mayor, two Strathcona County Councillors, two Sturgeon County Councillors, Strathcona County Chief Administrative Officer and Sturgeon County Chief Administrative Officer.
Strathcona County Council appoints the Strathcona County Mayor and two Strathcona County Councillors to the Strathcona County / Sturgeon County Intermunicipal Affairs Committee. They serve at the pleasure of Strathcona County Council for terms of up to two years. The two Sturgeon County Councillors that are members of the Committee are appointed by Sturgeon County Council and they serve at the pleasure of Sturgeon County Council for terms of up to two years.
*The Terms of the elected officials will end at the Organizational Meeting in 2027, provided they continue to serve as elected officials throughout the term of their appointment.
Committee meetings are hosted by the municipality of the person that is chair of such meeting.
Members of the public are welcome to attend meetings to observe the meeting and discussion carried out by the Strathcona County / Sturgeon County Intermunicipal Affairs Committee. However, members of the public may only participate in a meeting of and make representation to the Strathcona County / Sturgeon County Intermunicipal Affairs Committee in accordance with the Boards and Committees Bylaw.
