What you need to know before attending unparented programsÂ
The Family Resource Network (FRN) is excited to welcome your child! We aim to create a safe, inclusive and positive environment for all children. To help ensure a positive experience for all participants, please review the following important information:Â
Participant readinessÂ
- Toileting: Children must be independently toileted.Â
- Group participation: Participants should be able to engage in group activities. Unfortunately, we cannot provide specialized activities to individual children during our group programs.Â
Participation and engagementÂ
- Join group activities to the best of their ability.
- Follow staff instructions and try new things.
- Stay with the group during transitions and activities.
Behavior expectationsÂ
- Respect for self and others.
- Be kind to peers, staff, and materials.
- Use respectful language and actions.
- Listen when others are speaking and take turns.
Safety and boundariesÂ
- Keep hands and feet to oneself.
- Use materials and equipment safely.
- Ask for help when needed and speak up if something feels uncomfortable.
Support and guidanceÂ
Our team uses positive reinforcement and gentle redirection to support children. If a child is struggling:Â
- We’ll offer reminders and strategies.
- We’ll communicate with parents/guardians if challenges happen.
- We’ll work together to explore additional support or alternative settings if needed.
We understand that every child is unique. If your child has specific behavioural needs or strategies that help them thrive, please call 780-416-6730 or email familyresourcenetwork@strathcona.ca before the program begins so we can ensure you and your child have a positive experience.
