Weekend itineraries: summer starts tomorrow
This weekend in Sherwood Park and Strathcona County

Did you hear the news? Canada’s National Parks are free to enter this summer! There’s no better time to head to Elk Island National Park and enjoy the incredible views, from bison spotting to other animal watching, or enjoying things like canoeing on Lake Astotin thanks to Ridge Wilderness Adventures. The park is a popular spot to visit though, so try going early in the morning or during the week to make sure that you’re able to get in.
Sip Soda Co. opened a few weeks ago – have you tried it out yet? This place has a huge list of soda combinations, and you can even create your own. Aptly described as “dirty soda”, you can choose from a variety of syrups, sodas, juices, and even cream to create a delicious drink. Find their location off Broadmoor Boulevard and Baseline Road.
The Ardrossan Farmers Market kicked off its season earlier this month! This market runs every Tuesday evening until the end of September. That might sound like you have plenty of time, but there’s only 15 chances to check it out before you have to wait till next year. Stop by on Tuesday and help support local farmers and producers this summer.
