This weekend in Sherwood Park and Strathcona County

June 16, 2022 | Tourism

This Saturday is the 75th annual Picnic and Parage in Ardrossan! Celebrations start at 7:00 a.m. with a pancake breakfast, and there are things taking place until fireworks at 10:15 p.m. Make sure to head out early to get a good spot for the parade at 11:00 a.m.! More information can be found on the Ardrossan Recreation and Agricultural Society's Facebook page, or their website.

Outside of Nonnie's Grill and Artisan Shop

While you’re in Ardrossan, it’s only a few minutes down the road to Nonnie’s Grill in Cooking Lake. Even more exciting is that Nonnie’s has recently announced they will be serving breakfast on Sundays. Head out, enjoy a nice drive in Strathcona County, pick up some delicious food, and feel good about supporting a local gem. Don’t forget to pick up a cinnamon bun or two – they’re a popular choice!

Father and son planting a shrub together

Summer starts next week, so you still have time to plant the trees and shrubs you’ve been thinking about. Trees should be planted in cooler ground temperatures, so try and do it before the hot summer months. Sherwood Nurseries has plenty of trees, shrubs, and perennials for you to choose from to fill your yard. This locally owned nursery is just east of Sherwood Park, so a great place to stop by this weekend.
