Weekend itineraries: May Long

Enjoy the long weekend in Strathcona County

Weekend itineraries: May Long

May Long weekend means we’re getting closer to summer, so head outside for a picnic in the park this weekend. Even though the weather is supposed to be a bit cooler, don’t let that stop you from enjoying fresh air this weekend. Sherwood Park and Strathcona County have numerous parks to choose from, or head out to the Beaver Hills Biosphere for a picnic in a more remote spot and enjoy the day. If putting together a picnic sounds like too much work, try picking up takeout from a restaurant and enjoy supporting local.

Handpainted wall artwork in Special Noodle House

All Albertans know to watch the weather on the May Long weekend, so enjoying a nice hot bowl of pho isn’t entirely out of the question. Special Noodle House can be found in Summerwood Center off Clover Bar Rd and Lakeland Dr. This local Vietnamese option is a great choice when wanting to support businesses in our community. Take the opportunity to pick up your order instead of having it delivered and see the hand-painted artwork they have on the wall!

Father and son gardening

Some people might have already started planting things for the season, but it’s not too late to stock up on more. Sherwood Nurseries has plenty of options available, whether you’re looking for trees, shrubs, or flowers. Located just outside Sherwood Park in Strathcona County, this family-owned nursery is a great way to spend time this long weekend.
