Job Description
This posting is for up to 10 Hourly positions, working a minimum of 10 hours or 2 shifts per week. Shift hours range from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
We are hiring for multiple positions across three different locations: Recreation Attendants at the Kinsmen Leisure Centre, Emerald Hills Leisure Centre, and Facility Monitors and Arena Operator I’s at Glen Allan Recreation Complex and EPKK Gymnasium. Across all of these positions you will interact with guests to provide high-quality customer service as well as complete ongoing facility maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the facility for use by guests by ensuring proper room set-up, facilitate room rentals and ensure a safe, clean, and presentable facility
- Clean and maintain program rooms, washrooms, lobbies, and other public areas
- Assist with building maintenance and operations, responsibilities differ based on facility amenities
- Assist with receiving deliveries and ensuring items are properly stored
- Greet rental clients and ensure all groups are aware of emergency procedures and protocol
- Interact with facility guests, staff, and contractors in a positive and professional manner
- Understand operational procedures for building emergencies, the specific responsibilities for their role and assist in the event of an emergency
- Outdoor work including litter control, snow removal, and ground maintenance
Facility Specific Responsibilities:
- If based at Kinsmen Leisure Centre, Broadmoor Lake Spray Park operation and monitoring from May to September, which includes turning on the spray features, water tests, backwashing filter tanks, trouble shooting, public education, and first aid administration
- If based at Glen Allan Recreation Complex, as an Arena Operator I, you will assist Arena Operator 2s with ice maintenance and arena related responsibilities
- EPKK gymnasium monitors are required to work alone and lead emergency response
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum completion of Grade 10
- High school diploma plus experience in a customer service setting is an asset
- Daytime availability is an asset
- Availability for evening, weekend, and statutory holiday shifts
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification is required
- Exceptional customer services skills with the ability to interact with facility guests in a positive manner
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong time management and prioritization skills with the ability to adapt to changing needs
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to use good judgement when assisting customers
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to work alone (EPKK Only)
Conditions of Employment:
- Submission of Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as cleaning, and room set-up/takedown
