Strathcona County offers visual art programs and activities at Gallery@501 and Smeltzer House Visual Arts Centre. Programs are open to everyone and include single classes or longer series taught by skilled and knowledgeable artists, makers and arts educators.
Gallery@501Â programs take place in a fully equipped art studio next to the main gallery exhibition space. Our classes encourage participants to experiment with new techniques and explore their creativity through different artistic mediums. Choose from painting, drawing, needle felting, printmaking and other exciting art forms!
Smeltzer House Visual Arts Centre offers a variety of beginner-friendly art and fine craft programs such as pottery at the Clay Hut, glass fusing at Studio One, fibre arts, and more at Smeltzer House. Our specialized studios welcome students of all ages to enjoy the art of making.
Follow your passions, embrace lifelong learning and get creative with connecting with others in a fun and relaxing environment. Choose from a variety of programs including art, fine craft, glass fusing and pottery for adults and seniors.
Adult and senior program registration
Grow in artistic thinking and creative self-expression while learning and mastering new skills. Young artists will gain confidence in their abilities crafting unique pieces of art. Choose from a variety of programs including art, fine craft, glass fusing, pottery and homeschool for children, youth and teens.
Child, youth and teen program registration
Create wonderful memories, enjoy gallery exhibitions, explore different art techniques, and make inspiring projects together. Adult participation is required.

PD Day Camps: Spend your day off from school exploring new materials and creating one-of-a-kind works of art.Â
Fall + Spring Break camps: Get creative and learn new skills with a week full of engaging activities led by experienced arts educators.

Choose from either a painting or printmaking party for your birthday party at Gallery@501.
Most of our programs are designed for beginners; however, there is always something new and exciting to try in every class! We also provide opportunities for community members to connect with local artists and deepen their appreciation of art. We welcome comments as we continue to adapt our programming to meet community needs.
If you or your child require an aide or additional support to attend a program, please contact a visual arts programmer to discuss how we can best support your participation and ensure a positive experience for all.

Note:Â Parents/guardians must sign their child in and out of each class. Children cannot leave with someone who is not indicated on the participant information form.

Gallery@501 is wheelchair accessible and is located within the Strathcona County Community Centre. Street parking is available on Festival Avenue and underground parking in the Community Centre is free of charge for the first two hours - remember to register your license plate.
