
If you want to work towards becoming an Aquatic Instructor or Lifeguard, this is your opportunity to take all of your required training over the course of three years. Each level helps develop practical skills and specialized training through core courses such as Bronze Medallion and Standard First Aid/Aquatic Emergency Care (Level 1), Bronze Cross and Swim Instructor (Level 2), and National Lifeguard (Level 3).
The Tidal Waves Senior Club includes a variety of fun and exciting extras to make being part of the club one of the best decisions you’ll make all year. From special member opportunities to wide games, parties, and leadership development, you won’t regret spending your Sunday nights with teens and coaches who share similar goals and who take a personal interest in you.

- Sundays from 4:30 - 6:30 pm at Emerald Hills Leisure Centre
- Five unique programs levels
The Junior Club starts kids on the path to becoming a lifeguard, while having a whole lot of fun along the way. Over the course of the five levels, members will challenge a variety of Lifesaving Society programs, including the Swim Patrol and Bronze family of awards.
In addition to formal programming, Junior Club members participate in lifeguard sport competitions, wide games, pool parties, special events, leadership development, and wellness programs. If you want the opportunity to feel part of a special community of kids and learn some valuable skills from week to week, then the Tidal Waves Junior Club is the place for you! -

Registration for Tidal Waves Lifeguard Club will be available to existing members in July, following the end of each Club season.

Most weeks, Tidal Waves Lifeguard Club programs run out of the Emerald Hills Leisure Centre, located at 3555 Emerald Drive, Sherwood Park, AB, T8H 0W6. Special events may be booked offsite and can be found on our Trumba calendar.

Facility parking is available at the Emerald Hills Leisure Centre, but many of our families drop-off and pick-up their children at program start and end times. We ask that parents help keep our kids safe by parking in a designated stall to drop-off/pick-up. This avoids congestion in the drop-off lane directly in front of the facility as kids and guests enter and exit the facility.

The Tidal Waves Lifeguard Club season runs from September to June, following the school calendar. Clubs will operate most weekends throughout the season, with omit days on major holiday weekends and over a session break in the holiday season.

Permanent link to How competitive is the nature of the Club? Is it like swim club?The Tidal Waves Lifeguard Club operates differently from many other lifeguard clubs in that it does not have a competitive mandate.
The Tidal Waves Lifeguard Club focuses on knowledge acquisition, leadership development, individual wellness, and a whole lot of fun. While competitive Lifeguarding Sport events will be part of the Lifeguard Club season, we do not currently participate in sanctioned events outside of club time.

We suggest interested people plan to register on the opening of day of Strathcona County’s Fall Swimming Registration as many of our programs have have a tendency to fill with the first few days of public registration. We will continue to accept new members until spaces fill up or we reach the end of October.
