Strathcona County has developed a master plan for a new 290-acre regional park along the North Saskatchewan River. The master plan gives the County direction for the next 15 years on the type of outdoor development and activity desired for the park.
Update The final Master Plan (72.1Â MB) has been created to reflect the community needs through feedback provided by Indigenous Communities and Organizations, the public and stakeholders.
Direction for the Master Plan also comes from municipal, provincial and federal plans and policies, an understanding of what may be appropriate for the park based on site analysis and research and preliminary environmental and technical studies. A master plan responds to community needs by engaging with the public and stakeholders throughout its development. It will support the County’s commitment to a regional approach to North Saskatchewan River accessibility, including the Edmonton-Strathcona County footbridge work; and to environmental stewardship, an area of focus in the Recreation and Culture Strategy.
Capital design and construction is not anticipated before 2038.
