Dave Anderson, a dedicated public servant, and advocate for his community, currently serves as the Ward 2 Councillor for Strathcona County. Born and raised in Kamloops, Dave has called Sherwood Park home for over the past two decades. His commitment to his community runs deep, evident in his extensive involvement and leadership roles across various local and regional initiatives.

Since assuming office in October 2013, Dave has been a staunch advocate for the residents of Ward 2. Known for his active engagement and genuine concern for constituents' views, needs, and concerns, he ensures their voices are heard and represented effectively at the council level. Dave's dedication to leadership excellence is underscored by his academic achievements. He holds a Certificate in Executive Leadership from the University of Alberta and a Corporate Director designation from Rotman's School of Business.

Beyond his duties as a councillor, Dave has tirelessly worked to advance Strathcona County's interests. He is the Chair of the Inter-City Forum on Social Policy and served on the boards of organizations such as e4c and as the former Chair of the Heartland Housing Foundation. His contributions to regional planning and infrastructure development, including his roles as former Chair of the Alberta Capital Region Wastewater Commission and Vice-Chair of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Servicing Plan Task Force, have been instrumental in shaping the region's future.

Dave's passion for community service extends beyond the boardroom. He has initiated and participated in grassroots initiatives, such as organizing a community food bank drive and launching the "Be Caught Being Active" program, aimed at promoting outdoor recreation and wellness. His leadership in this area earned him the Alberta Parks and Recreation Choose Well Leadership Award.

Drawing from his childhood experiences growing up on the Skeetchestn First Nation reserve, Dave is deeply committed to raising awareness of the challenges faced by Indigenous communities and advancing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action. While he does not identify as Indigenous, Dave's upbringing has instilled in him a strong sense of empathy and solidarity with Indigenous peoples. His advocacy for justice and equality stems from firsthand exposure to the systemic issues that many Indigenous communities continue to confront. Through his platform as Ward 2 Councillor, Dave strives to amplify Indigenous voices and advocate for meaningful change in support of reconciliation efforts. Strathcona County fully acknowledges Treaty Lands as a direct result of Dave’s efforts.

At his core, Dave's values revolve around family and community. He cherishes spending time with his three daughters—Karen, Mackenzie, and Molly—and finds fulfillment in fostering a strong sense of belonging and solidarity within his community.

Dave Anderson's unwavering dedication to service, leadership acumen, and genuine care for his constituents make him a respected and influential figure in Strathcona County's political landscape.
