Strathcona County is a proud, founding member of Alberta’s Industrial Heartland Association (AIHA).
AIHA is Canada’s largest hydrocarbon processing region, home to 40+ world class companies with a combined total investment of over $30 billion.
The region spans across five municipalities. Strathcona County's portion makes up 194 square kilometres (75 square miles) of the Heartland.
Heartland Servicing Team
Strathcona County is well equipped to handle current and future growth pressures in the Heartland region.
The complexity of development in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland necessitates a coordinated approach to the planning and delivery of municipal services to the Heartland region.
In order to properly handle development, Strathcona County has a cross-functional team to support effective development of the Heartland. The Heartland Servicing Project Team supports effective development by enhancing communications between internal corporate departments and external stakeholders at the County. Once you have selected a desirable site, a meeting with various departments in Strathcona County will be scheduled to outline the regulatory requirements and review the project cycle. This ensures your development process is as smooth as possible.
The process outlined above facilitates the development of the Heartland in a manner that is consistent with the County’s community vision and supports a sustainable development model.
