Biography
Elected in 2007, Jason Gariepy is serving his second term as Councillor for Ward 8, Strathcona County's newest ward which includes the neighbourhoods of Calico, Craigavon, Forrest Green, Foxboro, Foxhaven, Heritage Hills, Regency Park, and The Ridge.
He has lived in the region his entire life and called Strathcona County's Ward 8 home since 2003. Jason and his wife Monica, have two children, Gavin and Geneva, and are raising their family in The Ridge.
Prior to being elected, he served the Provincial Government as a Senior Communications Manager. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Concordia), Public Relations Diploma (Grant MacEwan), and Master of Arts in Communications and Technology (University of Alberta). He is also an active member of Toastmasters International and has received his Advanced Toastmaster Gold designation for public speaking and leadership.
Jason believes that volunteerism is the heart of a healthy community. An active volunteer, Jason serves on numerous boards and association and is a parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Parish in Sherwood Park.

Playing sports (football, hockey, slo-pitch), reading biographies and historical books, are two of his favourite hobbies. He also enjoys walking with his family on the many trails that connect the neighbourhoods in Ward 8. He is an avid sports fan, cheering for the Edmonton Oilers and Eskimos, and Toronto Blue Jays.
