Biography

Brian was born and raised in Strathcona County and attended public school at Pine Street Elementary, Sherwood Heights Junior High, and Bev Facey Community High School.

At Bev Facey he was involved in an array of extra-curricular activities and enjoyed actively developing his leadership talents. He was involved with the High School Model United Nations, on which he enjoyed the challenge of working with peers to solve “political” issues, and the challenge of drafting effective legislation. Other activities included the men’s handball team, yearbook, and grad council. Brian is very appreciative of the excellent education he received from both the Elk Island Public Schools and from members of the community.

Brian has also represented Canada as a member of the Canada Canoe Polo team and played in tournaments across Canada and the United States.

Brian has also had the opportunity to work in the Sherwood Park business community and to meet several small business owners and personal clients during his time at the TD Canada Trust branch on Ordze Road. Work history also includes time as a Personal Banker working in investments and lending at ATB Financial in Edmonton, and Brian has recently wrapped up his tenure with Apple Inc. at the West Edmonton Mall Apple Store.

Currently, Brian is studying business at Grant MacEwan University with a goal of achieving a Bachelors of Commerce Degree, majoring in international business. Despite his educational goals, his primary focus remains on the residents of Ward 3 in Sherwood Park. Brian has both lessened his course load, and structured his academic schedule around his schedule as a Councillor in order to ensure that residents are paid the attention they deserve.

In October 2010 Brian was elected to Council to represent Ward 3. He has been appointed to represent Council on the following committees:

  • Alberta Capital Region Wastewater Commission
  • Boards & Committee Selection Committee
  • Capital Region Board Housing Committee - Alternate
  • Capital Region Board Inter-Municipal Transit Committee - Alternate
  • Environmental Advisory Committee
  • Pride of Strathcona Awards Selection Committee
  • R.C.M.P. Community Advisory Committee
