Pests

A variety of wildlife live in Strathcona County. As we go about our daily lives it is important to know how to co-exist with these animals to minimize conflict.Pests

Strathcona County works with residents to resolve pest control issues.

Municipalities are given this responsibility under the Agricultural Pests Act.

The following pest control services are provided to all Strathcona County residents.

How can we help?

Strathcona County Transportation and Agriculture Services, assists residents with the removal of pests on private property. Contact us at 780-417-7100 for information on how to control problem wildlife.

Beaver
Agriculture Services assists with the removal of beavers and the breaching of dams when there is a flooding concern. 

Coyotes
Agriculture Services provides a service to residents for trapping or snaring and removal of coyotes responsible for poultry or livestock losses in the agriculture industry.

Muskrat
Agriculture Services assists residents by offering live traps for rental and removing the trapped animal. A fee of $50.00 is charged for a two-week rental period, and the trap is delivered to the residence.

Red Fox
Agriculture Services assists residents by offering live traps for rental and removing the trapped animal.  A fee of $50.00 is charged for a two-week period, and the trap is delivered to the residence.  

Skunk
Agriculture Services assists residents by offering live traps for rental and removing the trapped animal. A fee of $50.00 is charged for a two-week rental period, and the trap is delivered to the residence. 

Squirrels
Agriculture Services also has live traps for catching squirrels. A fee of $25.00 is charged for a two-week rental period. Traps must be picked up from the Strathcona Public Services Yard, 370 Streambank Avenue during regular office hours. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Phone 780-417-7100 to ensure there are traps available.

Method of payment: Visa, MasterCard, Interac, cash or cheque.
