"The Wild Party" by Jason Carter

September 1 to October 23, 2016
Public Opening Reception: Thursday, September 1 at 7 p.m.

Artist will be in attendance.

Jason Carter is an Aboriginal man from the Little Red River Cree Nation as well as a successful painter and stone carver. Carter’s painting art-practice focuses on animals from the wild that now find themselves living in an urban world. These animals have been forced from their natural habitat and have adjusted to man-made urbanization, demonstrating resilience and adaptability. Carter’s large canvasses present animals (moose, deer, bear, beavers, etc) surrounded by colour and pattern. These digitized patterned backdrops create a contrast that charges his work with added tension between the painted animal and the background.

Donations are gratefully accepted for admission but are not required.
