How we use the census information
The population count helps the County obtain federal and provincial grants, many of which are calculated on a per-capita basis. Every additional resident increases the grant dollars to Strathcona and ensures that we receive our fair share.
The census information also serves as a foundation for planning new community services and enhancing existing ones. An accurate count of residents and the number in each age group is essential for Strathcona County to plan ahead for the municipal services that residents require.
Detailed results
The results from the Strathcona County 2005 Municipal Census are presented in a report that provides information on the following:
- population numbers and the distribution within Strathcona County
- aspects of dwellings including numbers, types and locations throughout the County
- average household sizes
- gender and age comparisons
- school choice of residents
Breakdowns of information for specific neighbourhoods or areas in the county, as well as different groupings of demographic data are available upon request.
