Parachute Group for children and youth

The Parachute Group provides peer support to children (5 - 13 years) who are dealing with the effects of separation or divorce. Children will use activities, games and discussion to help them share their feelings.

Prism Group for parents

This group is for parents whose children are enrolled in the Parachute Group. Parents will discuss challenges and strategies for coping with divorce and separation.
These peer support groups are lead by trained facilitators but are not counselling or therapy.

When are the programs

  • Groups run three times per year - fall, winter and spring.
  • Each session lasts for 11 weeks, including a pre-group meeting

Who is eligible for the program

  • Children from kindergarten to grade twelve
  • Parents who are separated or divorced
  • Families who have been separated for at least six months

What is the cost of this program

  • $10 per person, subsidies available
