Canadian Tire jumpstart charities
| Strathcona County, Recreation, Parks, and Culture is affiliated with the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities and will be responsible for identifying children in financial need looking to participate in organized sports and physical activities.
This program is for children between the ages of 4 and 18. Support may be provided twice per year (January-June session and July- November session) and is for one activity per child per session. Funding can be used to cover registration fees, equipment costs and transportation costs. Funding preference is for registration fees. Children are eligible to obtain equipment through Sport Central at no cost. Reimbursements for programs, equipment or transportation costs already paid by (or on behalf of) the family shall not be granted. Funding is available for all children within a low-income family Children in the Recreation Access Program (RAP) automatically qualify for Jumpstart funding. Other children interested may be referred by a community leader/professional such as educator, clergy, doctor, coach or Family and Community Services Representative. Application is done through Family and Community Services or Recreation Parks and Culture.
