Township Road 522 upgrades project
Township Road 522 is a rural road upgrade priority. The Township Road 522 upgrades project is part of Strathcona County's Sustainable Rural Master Plan. It supports safe, sustainable growth.
Upgrades are planned and partially completed on this road from Highway 21 to 40m north of the Range Road 224 intersection.
Upgrades will provide a safer roadway, including wider lanes, paved shoulders, better sight lines, and gentle side slopes. The original road is 7.0m wide, has no shoulders and has steep slide slopes. These characteristics make it difficult for vehicles to pass each other, and the steep side slopes add collision severity risk for vehicles leaving the roadway.
Township Road 522 from 800m east of Highway 21 to 1.2km east of Range Road 225
This project is currently in the construction phase.
This section of road will be upgraded to a Class 1 Roadway and will move to construction in May 2019. Park Paving has been contracted to complete this work. All construction is expected to be completed by September 30, 2019, weather permitting.
Please expect full and partial road closures during the spring and summer months to ensure that construction is completed efficiently, in addition to minimizing traffic impacts for school bus routes and residents. Watch our temporary message boards in the construction zones for detour routes and traffic updates. Access to adjacent residences will be maintained for owners, garbage disposal vehicles, mail, and emergency services.
