Ardrossan Hamlet Roads Upgrade
The purpose of the Ardrossan Hamlet Roads Upgrade project is to enhance road safety, efficiency and usability for residents. Effective and efficient infrastructure contributes to quality of life and place in our community, making Strathcona County one of Canada’s most liveable communities.
The scope of this project includes upgrades to:
- Point-Aux-Pins Creek Bridge
- Main Street
- Range Road 221A
- Third Avenue and Queen Street

Project timeline
The planning, design and construction of this multi-phased project is scheduled to take place from fall 2015 into the coming years, pending council approval of annual budgets.

With the Main Street loop completed, and further development happening in the Hamlet of Ardrossan, the bridge crossing Point-Aux-Pins Creek needs to be replaced. The narrow bridge is not built to accommodate the increased demands. The scope of this project component consists of upgrading the current Point-Aux-Pins Creek Bridge into a 9.0m two-lane, rural, standard collector road with a 3.0m asphalt trail located on the west side of the new bridge.

- August 2017 – Consultant selected to complete preliminary and detailed design

The scope of this project component is to upgrade Main Street from Range Road 221A to Arbour Close into a two-lane, standard rural collector road. The project will include the construction of approximately 250 meters of sidewalk on the west side of the road. In addition, some minor traffic calming will be introduced at the intersection of Third and First Avenue.

The scope of this project component is to upgrade Range Road 221A from Queen Street to King Street into a two lane, rural, standard collector road. The project will include constructing approximately 325 meters of roadway upgrades.

This project is now substantially complete. A small amount of maintenance is scheduled during the next two years and a final acceptance inspection is scheduled in the fall of 2019.
