Rogers Hometown Hockey

Strathcona County hosting Rogers Hometown Hockey  January 5 to 6, 2019!

The Rogers Hometown HockeyTour, presented by Scotiabank, is a free family-friendly hockey celebration featuring two days of live entertainment, NHL alumni including Glenn Anderson, Grant Fuhr and Craig MacTavish, and hockey-themed activities for all ages outside the Sherwood Park Arena and Sports Centre (2015 Oak Street, Sherwood Park).

Hosts Ron MacLean and Tara Slone will be on-site for the weekend's festivities, which include a meet-and-greet opportunities with NHL alum Glenn Anderson and live entertainment featuring Karac Hendriks, The Melisizwe Brothers and The Road Hammers

On Sunday, the live broadcast kicks off with a special pre-game show hosted by MacLean and Slone, live from the Sportsnet Mobile Studio beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by a televised showdown between the Edmonton Oilers and the Anaheim Ducks. The broadcast features special guest Craig MacTavish, and a feature story on our community's very own World's Longest Hockey Game, led by Brent Saik.

Festival times

  • Saturday, January 5: 12 Noon - 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, January 6: 12 Noon - 9 p.m. (when the Edmonton Oilers' game finishes)

Parking is very limited on-site. Free transit shuttle buses are available from Bethel Transit Terminal (650 Bethel Drive, Sherwood Park) to the festival.

  • 1. Where will the event take place?

    The festivities will take place in the Sherwood Park Arena and Sports Centre parking lot.

  • 2. Is there a free shuttle service?

    Yes there is! Shuttles will run every 15 minutes from the Bethel Transit Terminal to the Sherwood Park Arena and Sports Centre.

    Saturday, January 5

    • departures start at 11:45 a.m.
    • last bus departs the Sherwood Park Arena and Sports Centre at 6:30 p.m.

    Sunday, January 6

    • departures start at 11:45 a.m. 
    • last bus departs the Sherwood Park Arena and Sports Centre at 9:30 p.m.


  • 3. Is there a cost to attend this event?

    No! All activities are free for Rogers Hometown Hockey.

  • 4. Will there be food to purchase at the event?

    A barbeque will be available from Noon to 6 p.m. on January 5 and Noon to 9 p.m. on January 6. All proceeds of the barbeque will go to local minor sport associations. Limited seating will be available.

    The menu includes:

    • taco in a bag – $5
    • cheeseburger – $4.50
    • burger / smokie – $4
    • hotdog – $3.50
    • pop, water – $1.50
    • chips, chocolate bar – $1.50
  • 5. Can I volunteer or set up as a vendor during the festival?

    Strathcona County appreciates everyone's excitement about getting involved with the event, however there are no volunteer opportunities or vendor opportunities available.
