Let the Games begin!

Strathcona County is set to welcome more than 2,200 participants for the 2026 Alberta Summer Games (ASG), taking place July 16–19. Young athletes aged 11 to 16 from across the province will compete in a wide range of individual and team sports, supported by hundreds of dedicated volunteers working behind the scenes to deliver a memorable experience.

This year’s Games will feature athletics, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, canoe/kayak, lacrosse, mountain biking, rugby, soccer, softball and swimming. In an exciting return, golf and tennis will rejoin the Games for the first time in 20 years.

Competitions will be held at venues throughout Strathcona County, as well as in the City of Fort Saskatchewan and the City of Edmonton, offering communities across the region an opportunity to be part of the action.

Spectators are encouraged to come out and cheer on the athletes. Daily and weekend passes are available for those wishing to attend sporting events.

In addition to competition, the Games will feature a live Mural Jam at Millennium Place. From Thursday through Sunday, five selected artists or artist teams will create medium-scale murals around the indoor track. Visitors are invited to experience the creative process firsthand and watch the artwork come to life in real time.

Volunteers are still needed. Most shifts range from two to four hours and are open to youth aged 13 to 15 when accompanied by an adult, or individuals aged 16 and older who can volunteer independently.

The sold-out Opening Ceremonies will take place in the evening of Thursday, July 16 at the Emerald Hills Sport Pavilion. Roadways in the area will experience traffic impacts and potential delays.
