Fieldhouse public art opportunities now open to artists

Strathcona County is inviting Canadian artists and artist teams to submit portfolios for multiple public art opportunities at the new Strathcona County Fieldhouse.

The Fieldhouse will be a major regional recreation destination for athletes, families, visitors, community groups and residents. Public art will help create a welcoming, vibrant and memorable environment that reflects movement, play, wellness, gathering, sport, landscape and community connection.

Artists may apply for one or more opportunities, including exterior and interior artwork locations throughout the facility. Potential sites include the exterior plaza, exterior wall, interior stairway wall, main vestibule and elevator wall.

This is a portfolio-based call. Artists are not required to submit a finished artwork concept at this stage.

For larger exterior opportunities, applicants should demonstrate experience in public art, durability, fabrication, installation and coordination with project teams. For interior wall-based opportunities, Strathcona County encourages applications from artists who are new to public art, including those with strong studio, illustration, design, mural, digital or community-based practices.

Key dates:

• Submission deadline: Sept. 30, 2026

• Jury review and shortlisted interviews: October 2026

• Contracts awarded: December 2026

• Artwork installation: Summer/Fall 2027

Shortlisted artists or artist teams invited to interview will receive an honorarium.
