New mandatory provincial restrictions affect Strathcona County

The Government of Alberta announced new restrictions today which now affect group activities at Strathcona County facilities. Effective November 13, 2020 through to November 27, 2020:

  • All group fitness classes, recreational swimming and skating, swimming lessons, various registered programs such as sports, dance and drama programs will be temporarily cancelled. Impacted registered participants will be contacted and registration refunds will be automatically processed.
  • All gymnasium and racquet court bookings will be suspended.
  • Wellness centres, lap swimming and walking lanes will remain open for individual fitness activities including personal training.
  • All team-based bookings in arenas, fieldhouse and pools will be suspended.

We will continue to work on modifications with group bookings and team sports to accommodate individual activities where possible. Additional lap swim and walking lane times will also be added.

The Government of Alberta will re-evaluate these restrictions during the two-week period.

For questions about private fitness facilities and businesses, please contact the Government of Alberta.

Please be kind to each other. Remember to stay two metres apart, wear a mask and wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water. The ongoing pandemic and its impacts can be difficult to cope with. If you need mental health, financial, parenting or other support, phone Family and Community Services at 780-464-4044.
