Agriculture and nature themed spray park and playground opens June 15 in Ardrossan

Residents are invited to join the grand opening celebration for the ArrKann Spray Park and Playground in the Ardrossan Regional Park. This brand new park is located at 80-1 Avenue in Ardrossan, just behind the Ardrossan Recreation Complex.

The grand opening will kick off on Saturday, June 15 at 9:45 a.m. with a short presentation in coordination with the Ardrossan Recreation Complex Free Community Day and the Ardrossan Recreation & Agricultural Society’s Annual Parade and Picnic. The spray park will be open seven days a week when the weather is 20 C or warmer from the May long weekend to the September long weekend.

Just like the RE/MAX Spray Park in Broadmoor Lake Park, the ArrKann Spray Park uses a recirculating water recycling system and an on-demand system that reduces the amount of water needed to operate it. This site also includes a rain garden filled with native plants that collect water from snow melt and surfaces such as roofs and pathways, to treat the pollutants in the water before they flow into nearby streams and ponds.

The opening of this spray park and playground brings Strathcona County closer to completing the Ardrossan Community Recreation Master Plan. In the winter, the spray park will be turned into a skating area with a leisure ice and loop. Future projects for the Ardrossan Regional Park include a new skate park, dog off leash site, edible garden and expanded parking lot, expected to be complete summer 2020.
