December 31, 2019
On Monday, January 6, 2020, the Highway 14 Regional Water Services Commission is planning to shut down a portion of its water supply to repair a water break.

A water ban will also be in effect for Antler Lake and Collingwood Cove hamlets.
The repair will take approximately 48 hours to complete, provided there are no complications. The shutdown and water ban will be in effect for the duration of the repair.
A Strathcona County alert will be sent on January 3 to residents signed up for alerts in the affected area. Updates will be available at strathcona.ca/waterban.
Water shutdown effective January 6: Strathcona County water customers east of Range Road 220 and south of Highway 16
Please ensure you have enough water stored for every member of your household before the proposed January 6 water shutdown.
- Ensure cisterns are full the evening of January 5, or before 6 a.m. on January 6.
- Please reduce your cistern water use to ensure your water supply will meet critical needs such as drinking and cooking.
- Be prepared to have no water supply for up to 72 hours. Suggestions include:
- Keep a 72-hour supply of drinking water for each person in your household. Recommend four litres of drinking water per day for each person.
- Fill bathtubs to use the water to flush toilets or other non-potable uses.
- Fill containers and store in the fridge for drinking water.
- Fill pots and store on stove for cooking water.
If you do not have a cistern, or if your cistern’s water supply will be low, please contact Strathcona County at 780-467-7785 to discuss options for water distribution for critical needs.
Strathcona County staff are notifying affected households with hand-delivered letters. A Strathcona County alert will be sent on January 3 as a reminder.

The Antler Lake reservoir cannot be filled during this time due to repairs on the water main. The water ban is required to ensure the reservoir can support critical activities and needs for the duration of the shutdown.

- Postpone or take short five-minute showers
- Do not wash vehicles
- Postpone laundry and dish washing
