Shared recreation pass extended for one month

In a continued spirit of collaboration with its neighbour, Strathcona County is extending its acceptance of Fort Saskatchewan Multi-Facility Pass memberships at County recreation facilities, until January 31, 2019. This initiative has been extended to minimize service impacts to patrons of Fort Saskatchewan’s Harbour Pool during its annual maintenance shutdown.

Fort Saskatchewan also passed a reciprocal motion allowing Millennium Card holders to use the City’s recreation facilities last September, which has also been extended to the end of January.

“This initiative has provided insight to the benefits regional collaboration offers in providing services to citizens, including recreation amenities.” says Mayor Rod Frank. “It makes sense to extend this initiative to help minimize service impacts to our neighbouring citizens, while their local pool is shut down for annual maintenance in January.”

On September 11, 2018, Strathcona County Council passed the following motion: “That the County accept a valid Fort Saskatchewan Multi-Facility Pass at all Strathcona County Facilities (that accept Millennium Cards) until December 31, 2018. This direction is effective immediately.”

Strathcona County continues to evaluate this initiative looking for ways to further enhance citizen services through collaborative opportunities with its neighbour.

Set in the centre of Alberta’s energy and agricultural heartland, Strathcona County is a thriving, successful and vibrant community of over 98,000 residents.
