New plantings part of lasting legacy at Broadmoor Lake Park

Strathcona County residents will enjoy more natural beauty at Broadmoor Lake Park, thanks to a partnership with Shell Canada and Tree Canada.  

Shell Canada’s generous contribution of $30,000 has funded over 1,100 plants to be placed in Broadmoor Lake Park. On September 29, 2017, students from St. Theresa School helped plant trees along the perimeter of Broadmoor Lake while enjoying the outdoors.

“Broadmoor Lake and the surrounding trails and parks are well-loved and used by residents, especially during our widely popular Canada Day and New Year’s Eve celebrations,” says Mayor Roxanne Carr. “Through our partnership with Shell Canada and Tree Canada, these plants will flourish and be enjoyed by generations to come.”

Since 2011, Shell Canada and Tree Canada have partnered with Strathcona County to support this type of environmental initiative. Plantings help improve the natural habitat and ecosystems within Broadmoor Lake Park.
