Residents invited to participate in next steps for urban growth

Strathcona County is moving forward with an Area Concept Plan for urban growth in Bremner. In addition to developing an Area Concept Plan, the County will also look at transportation, design and construction standards, utilities and financial viability.

Residents are invited to provide input on the project from now until July 9. The first phase of public engagement for the project will take place from May 17 to July 9, with two further phases planned for 2018.

Bremner will be a continuous expansion of Sherwood Park, and will reflect principles of smart growth. Planning and detailed engineering for the project will reflect innovative approaches and best practices to ensure a vibrant and safe community. Bremner will be developed under the principles of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Growth Plan, approved by the Capital Region Board (CRB) late last year.

The development plans will be based on the vision created through the Bremner Growth Management Strategy. Professional services firm, Stantec, has been retained to work with the County on the project.

Here’s how residents can participate.
