Council begins Budget 2018 deliberations
November 20, 2017

Strathcona County Council today received 2018 budget recommendations for municipal operating and capital budgets. Budget 2018 continues to focus on advancing community priorities, while identifying efficiencies through review of historical trends and application of priority-based budgeting (PBB) tools.
Members of the public are invited to attend the business plan and budget meetings, where Council will discuss and provide direction on the recommended budget. Meetings are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on November 27, 28 and; tentatively, December 4.
Council is expected to approve Budget 2018 early in December.
All business plan and budget meetings are held in Council Chambers in the Community Centre, 401 Festival Lane, Sherwood Park. Meetings will be webcast live, or citizens can watch the recorded webcasts.
Budget 2018 represents the second year of implementing PBB. This approach, along with prudent spending and a focus on ever greater efficiency, has enabled the organization to build on its strengths, and to maintain that position going forward.
