Grand opening celebration of Emerald Hills Sports Pavilion

Residents are invited to join the grand opening celebration for the Emerald Hills Sports Pavilion, Strathcona County’s brand new multipurpose facility.
Residents are invited to join the grand opening celebration for the Emerald Hills Sports Pavilion, Strathcona County’s brand new multipurpose facility. Located at 4501 Emerald Drive, Sherwood Park, the 27-acre park site features exciting amenities including a FIFA II certified artificial turf field, a grass sports field and two ball diamonds.
The family-friendly celebration takes place on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Free activities throughout the event include a 3D hockey inflatable, site tours, face painters, giant dodgeball game, bubble soccer, rugby drills and demos, and more. Strathcona County fitness specialists will also be leading a family-friendly workout on the turf in support of Everybody Gets to Play. Bring a donation to participate and to be entered to win a Millennium Card. The first 500 visitors will receive a football flinger. Food trucks will also be on-site offering delicious food for purchase.

The Sports Pavilion, adjacent to the artificial turf, includes four full-sized change rooms and washrooms, office space, garage/workshop for parks staff, multi-purpose room and a concession area. The artificial turf is open for multiple uses, including soccer, football, rugby and field hockey.
The $8 million Emerald Hills Sports Pavilion was made possible through the Government of Alberta’s Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI) funding grant of $5.3 million, as well as $175,000 contribution from the Sherwood Park Minor Football Association.
