Pitch-In this spring!

Strathcona County residents are invited to help make Strathcona County shine by taking part in Pitch-In from May 2 to 31. This annual campaign brings volunteers together to help remove waste left behind after the spring thaw.

Last year’s Pitch-In campaign saw 4,807 residents volunteer and 1,329 bags of waste collected. That is equivalent to approximately 350 black waste carts. Participants also donated around 3,375 hours of their time, in just four weeks!

Residents are encouraged to join the clean-up effort in their own neighbourhoods. The County supplies garbage bags for individuals or groups who register for Pitch-In. Pitch-In bags are available for pick-up at the Recreation, Parks and Culture administration office (2025 Oak Street, Sherwood Park) during normal business hours. Additional information, including the Pitch-In event registration form, is available online or by calling 780-467-2211.

Now in its 49th year, Pitch-In Canada is the largest and only multi-provincial environmental improvement campaign in Canada. It involves over 622,400 Canadians at over 15,000 local projects that clean-up, restore and preserve the environment.

Set in the centre of Alberta’s energy and agricultural heartland, Strathcona County is a thriving, successful and vibrant community of almost 96,000 residents. Strathcona County is made up of the urban area of Sherwood Park and a large adjacent rural area of farms, acreages and smaller hamlets. It is home to 75 per cent of refining in Western Canada. With a focus on economic, governance, social, cultural and environmental sustainability, Strathcona County is committed to balancing the unique needs of its diverse community.
