County celebrates National Family Week: strong families grow here

Residents are invited to enjoy a week’s worth of free family fun, as the County joins in celebrating National Family Week from October 5-11, 2015.

The week will feature events and information celebrating the theme of “strong families grow here”. Strathcona County is home to over 27,000 families, according to the 2012 Statistics Canada National Household Survey.

Residents are invited to the free pancake breakfast kick-off at the Ardrossan Recreation Complex (80-1 Ave, Ardrossan), on Sunday, October 4 from
9 a.m. – 11 a.m.

The rest of the week’s evening activities include board game fun at Common Ground Café on October 6, family art activities (pre-registration required) at the Community Centre on October 7, and a family Lego night at the Community Centre on October 8.

On Friday, October 9, residents are invited to share how they spent time with family for a chance to win a family games package, valued at $100. Entries can be posted on the County’s Facebook page, via twitter using #SCfamilies, or by phone at 780-464-4044.

Set in the centre of Alberta’s energy and agricultural heartland, Strathcona County is a thriving, successful and vibrant community of more than 95,000 residents. Strathcona County is made up of the urban area of Sherwood Park and a large adjacent rural area of farms, acreages and smaller hamlets.
