O Canada! Join the celebration on July 1

Experience the region’s best and biggest Canada Day festival on July 1 at Broadmoor Lake Park. Each year, over 25,000 people gather to share their Canadian pride while enjoying a multitude of indoor and outdoor activities that entice the senses.

The festival kicks off at 9 a.m. with the Axiom Mortgage Solutions Pancake Breakfast and stage show in the Community Centre (located at 401 Festival Lane, Sherwood Park). At 10 a.m., the Chamber of Commerce Parade will wind its way around the heart of the community.

An exciting addition to this year’s festival is the grand opening of the brand new RE/MAX Spray Park and Playground at 12:30 p.m. Remember to bring your bathing suit and towel and join in on the grand opening fun!

New activities this year include:

  • Activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the National Flag of Canada
  • Activities celebrating the Year of Sport
  • Teen Party, including ice cream sundaes, selfie booth and a DJ
  • PaintNite in the park with a local master artist ($10 per person, ages 16+)
  • Outdoor skating with Prairie Toyota Clarkson Cup

  • Performance by Lighthouse

This year’s festival will also see many favourite activities return, including:

While the majority of activities are free, some do require tickets or the Sherwood Park Mall Unlimited Access Wristband, which is on sale now for $5 at the Sherwood Park Mall and at recreation facilities in Sherwood Park. On July 1, tickets can also be purchased on-site for $1 per activity.

The celebration will wrap up with an exciting performance from Canadian classic rock legends, Lighthouse at 9:30 p.m. At 11 p.m., all eyes will be on the sky to watch the spectacular fireworks display from Sobeys Lakeland and Nottingham.

There are still volunteer opportunities available for the Canada Day festivities. Each volunteer will receive a free t-shirt, beverages and food during the festival. Volunteers who sign up for six hours or more will also receive a “fast pass” wristband for ticketed activities and an exclusive invitation to the Special Guest Reception to watch Lighthouse and view the fireworks.
