New all-way stops coming to Glen Allan

New all-way stops coming to Glen Allan

Watch for all-way stop signs in Glen Allan on October 24. The changes are designed to manage traffic, improve safety and discourage short-cutting.

All-way stops will be installed at the intersections of Georgian Way and Glenbrook Boulevard, and Georgian Way and Gatewood Boulevard.

In addition, the right hand turn lane will be eliminated from Glenbrook Boulevard, south to Georgian Way.

Strathcona County Council approved these traffic control changes on October 20 after reviewing the Glen Allan Traffic Calming project recommendations. Glen Allan residents were invited to participate in the project to help address speeding and short-cutting in their neighbourhood.

Assessment of traffic information collected in Glen Allan during the traffic calming process shows additional traffic control is needed at these intersections. Our consultant has recommended the addition of all-way stops at these locations. Traffic calming features (curb extensions, raised intersections) will be constructed with regularly scheduled rehabilitation of the road between 2016 and 2021 pending budget approval.
