It's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood: won't you meet your neighbour?

September 4, 2014

County residents are invited for an afternoon of neighbourly conversation and fun during this year’s Neighbour Day event on Sunday, September 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Community Centre in Sherwood Park.

Strathcona County Family and Community Services is pleased to host this free, all-ages event that features plenty of family-friendly fun. This includes live music, street hockey with the Sherwood Park Knights, a lemonade stand and barbeque. Face painting and a bouncy castle will also be part of the day’s activities.

The Community Centre’s neighbours at Bedford Village (161 Festival Way) will be hosting fun activities and sharing cake, so collect a stamp from each location. This will entitle you to enter the County draw for a great games package, valued at $100.

Strathcona County’s young Neighbour Day Ambassadors will also be at the event. These children submitted artwork about what they believe makes a great neighbourhood. Their artwork was reproduced into neighbour appreciation cards which you can pick up and deliver to helpful neighbours.

Celebrating Neighbour Day since 2009, the event has grown to over 500 attendees. Strathcona County encourages residents to make regular connections with their neighbours to promote a friendly, fun and safe community.

Join the celebration – and bring a neighbour!
