Seniors invited to celebrate!

May 23, 2014

Seniors across Strathcona County are invited to attend the Seniors’ Week Celebration at the Community Centre Agora on June 5 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

This year’s ‘Active Seniors’ theme builds on the excitement of the upcoming Canada 55+ Games, hosted in Strathcona County from August 27 – 30, 2014.

A $5 ticket treats seniors to a morning of music, light refreshments and informative displays covering a variety of topics including volunteering opportunities, summer day trips and health and lifestyle tips. This year’s celebration includes a special tribute to Alice Modin, who recently passed away at the age of 97 years. Ms. Modin was a long-time resident and very active in our community. Her life accomplishments include spearheading the creation of Alberta Seniors’ Week, which will celebrate its 27th anniversary this June.

Tickets can be purchased at Family and Community Services (#200, 501 Festival Avenue) or at the Information and Volunteer Centre (100 Ordze Avenue). Tickets are also available at the door – but hurry, only 300 tickets are available. Further information is available by calling 780-464-4044 or online at www.strathcona.ca/seniors
