The Strathcona Salon Series Acquisitions & Loans exhibition will showcase Strathcona County’s talented local artists. The gallery@501 art exhibit opens to the public on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 and the Unveiling Reception will be on Friday, June 13 at 7 p.m.

The Strathcona Salon Series consists of original artwork in various media, submitted by local artists and brought to Strathcona County’s gallery@501 for adjudication. Submissions for Strathcona County’s Permanent Art Collection will be juried by three art professionals who maintain their practice outside of the County.

In 1987, Strathcona County Council approved the creation of the Permanent Art Collection to encourage and support local artists. The members of the Permanent Art Collection Committee are appointed by Council and are responsible for collecting artwork from local artists and displaying the artworks in County owned buildings and properties. Presently, the Collection houses 231 artworks.
