Residents asked to reduce water use

April 22, 2014

Residents who receive piped water including Sherwood Park, Ardrossan, Josephburg, Josephburg Co-op, Half Moon Lake, Collingwood Cove, Antler Lake and the country residential areas of Strathcona County should reduce their water use between April 29 and May 1.

A portion of the main water supply line into Sherwood Park must be relocated to accommodate upgrades to the northeast portion of the Anthony Henday. Residents may notice low or fluctuating water pressure during construction.

Residents can help by:
  • postponing watering lawns, trees and gardens
  • postponing washing vehicles, driveways and house exteriors
  • taking short showers instead of baths
  • making sure toilet leaks are fixed
  • postponing filling hot tubs or large aquariums

“Using as little water as possible will help make sure our community’s water supply will last should the construction take longer than anticipated,” said Jeff Hutton, Director of Utilities.

Updates will be posted on the County website and through social media. Residents can also call 780-417-2398 for an automated update message.

Disruptions in water service can be planned and unplanned. As part of emergency preparedness, residents are encouraged to sign up for Strathcona County Alerts to receive updates in case of serious water disruptions or other emergency events that may affect Strathcona County residents. Visit or call 780-410-8550.
