Holiday cheer on display at Christmas in the Heartland

Kick off the holiday season in beautiful rural Strathcona County with Christmas in the Heartland. Presented by the Josephburg Agricultural Society, this annual two-day festival celebrates authentic holiday customs across eight community halls and churches in the northern part of the county.

On November 29 and 30, visitors will have an opportunity to tour the scenic countryside while enjoying sleigh rides, ice carvings, community markets and more. Highlights on Saturday, November 29 include the light-up of a 60-foot Christmas tree, free chili and fireworks that will light up the sky at 6:30 p.m. at Heartland Hall (55305 Range Road 214). 

Bremner House opens on Sunday, November 30, showcasing arts, heritage, Aboriginal and Metis programming. Over 650 Nativities are on display at Bethany Lutheran Church, which will be open on Sunday as well. 

The event is organized by dedicated community groups and volunteers. Admission is free in all venues. Holiday arts, crafts, baking and refreshments can be purchased at various locations. 

Bus transportation is available for activities on Saturday. Bus tickets are available for $5 per person ($20 per family) while quantities last. Contact 780-464-8095 for more information.
