Strathcona County mourns the loss of Constable Dhami, who lost his life in the line of duty on April 10, 2023.

The RCMP Regimental Funeral for Cst. Harvinder Singh Dhami will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Due to the large number of mourners, access to the funeral service inside of Millennium Place will be restricted to invited family members, friends and first responders.

    Invited guests only.
    Regimental Funeral service begins at Millennium Place. 

    Please note: this service is not open to the public attending in-person. Live-streaming of the procession and funeral will be available on the Alberta RCMP YouTube channel.
  • 1:30 p.m.
    Regimental Funeral service ends.

Members of the public are welcome to line the funeral procession route to pay their respects.


Please note parking at Bethel Lutheran Church, Bethel Transit Terminal and Millennium Place is restricted to law enforcement and invited participants only. 

The public is encouraged to park at Centennial Park and proceed to the west and south trails to Lakeland Dr to view the march. The short walk is minutes from Lakeland Dr and will provide easy viewing access.


Trail access to Millennium Place will be closed to the public. County staff will be on hand to direct pedestrians.

  • Cst. Dhami believed in service to the community and was a big supporter of the Meals on Wheels program. The family has asked, in lieu of flowers, for the members of the public to support their local Meals on Wheels program.
  • A GoFundMe has also been set up by the National Police Federation Benevolent Foundation, in partnership with the National Police Federation, for the family of Cst. Dhami.

Millennium Place closed to the public on April 20

Millennium Place, and its parking lot, will be closed to the public from 5 a.m. until 6 p.m. on April 20, as it hosts the Regimental Funeral for Cst. Dhami. The Running Room and The Bridge will also be closed during this time.

Road closures and transit detours

April 20 road closures:

  • Lakeland Drive from Sherwood Drive to Broadmoor –7 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Bethel Way from Bethel Drive to Lakeland Drive – 7 a.m.– 12 p.m.
  • Premier Way from Lakeland Drive to Prairie Drive - 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.

RCMP and Enforcement Services front counter closure

The RCMP and Enforcement Services front reception desk will be closed from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. in honour of the Regimental procession and funeral. The public can access help using the after-hours public phone in the front door of the detachment.
