Information about service modification is changing frequently. Please call us​​​​​​​ before coming to our offices. 

All Strathcona County summer camps and programs have been cancelled. Refunds will be issued. 

Strathcona County municipal operations continue to be provided to our community. Where possible and appropriate, Strathcona County staff are working from home and avoiding in-person meetings.

As this situation changes frequently, Strathcona County will continue to monitor and respond to Alberta Health direction.

Support for businesses, non-profits, individuals and community organizations

Temporary recycling facility Strathcona County is opening a temporary recycling site to help residents manage their short-term recycling, yard waste and waste during the COVID-19 pandemic. This site is intended for residents who lack the space to store these materials until the Broadview Enviroservice Station reopens. April 30
Temporary signage for businesses Strathcona County is making additional allowances, wherever possible, for temporary signage for businesses facing service changes as the COVID-19 situation continues to change rapidly. April 3
Accepting applications for Government of Alberta emergency social services funding Local charities, non-profits and civil society organizations may apply for provincial emergency social services funding to support efforts that go over and above normal operations to respond to the social challenges of COVID-19. Eligible Strathcona County organizations may apply through Family and Community Services. Utility payment deferral option

Strathcona County residents and small businesses facing financial hardship may request utility bill payment deferrals, for up to three months with no penalties.

Payment for services

Update as of March 26: In recognition of this unprecedented time, Strathcona County residents and small businesses facing financial hardship may request utility bill payment deferrals, for up to three months with no penalties. For residents and small businesses in financial need, contact Utility customer billing at 780-464-8273 or email customerbilling@strathcona.ca.

Consider making your payments online, through your bank institutions, whenever possible. Check your options for:

Services operating remotely or in reduced capacity

All front-counter services are closed to the public. Alternative ways of accessing services are listed below.

Transit

Transit is reducing its peak-hour service to half-hour service schedules (6 a.m - 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.)

Mobility Bus service will be limited to essential travel, with hours of operation remaining unchanged. Mobility Bus service requests that are not essential will be directed to Family and Community Services or other agencies as appropriate.

Transit continues its deeper and more frequent cleaning procedures throughout buses and facilities.

Planning and Development Services
  • Please use the online permit application system to apply and pay for electrical, plumbing, gas, deck, fire and alarm permits. 
  • Self-booking of inspections has been suspended online. Please call our office at 780-464-8080 for any inquiries or to schedule an inspection.
  • We may be able to complete some inspections remotely.

Documents drop-off

Use the mail slot located at the Community Centre’s east plaza entrance whenever appropriate.

Programs and classes
  • All recreation and culture programs, performances and drop-in classes are also suspended.
  • All parent and caregiver workshops, programs, counselling groups, events and home help services and events are suspended.
  • Refunds and pro-rated refunds will be processed automatically for all program participants affected by the cancellation. 
  • Millennium Cards and GARC Court passes (annual and 7 month) have been automatically placed on suspension, and no payments will be taken while services are interrupted.
