Strathcona County has more than 20,000 acres (8272 ha.) of industrial land consisting of light, medium, heavy, eco- and agri-business, and the heavy industrial transition overlay. Broadmoor Centre and Sherwood Business Park are both mixed-use subdivisions with Laurin Industrial Park, Knightsbridge Subdivision, Sherwood Industrial Estates, Strathmoor Industrial, Griffon Industrial Estates, and Clover Bar Industrial are the main medium industrial subdivisions. The refinery row area is home to various heavy industrial users such as Imperial Oil, Alberta Envirofuels, AltaSteel, Enbridge Pipeline, Gibson Energy Ltd., Petro-Canada, Alcan Ltd., Pembina Pipeline, Kinder Morgan and Lafarge. This area covers approximately 5 sections of heavy industrial land. The heavy industrial transition overlay is a restricted development area extending up to 3 km from the heavy industrial district.
Alberta's Industrial Heartlandarea encompasses 1380 square kilometres (533 sq. miles) of industrial land. Strathcona County is one of the four founding members in this association, having 194 square kilometres (75 sq. miles) of land for industrial developers.
